So how does it feel to be treated like a dummy? Because that’s what HostGator thinks of you: what was once a great company offering excellent hosting service as well as great value is now catering to customers they think can be duped easily.
Server location is undoubtedly an important factor when you’re hosting a game server or anything where a few additional milliseconds in latency could spell the difference between having a high-quality experience or a crappy one. But when it comes to shared web hosting, should you really bother?
According to EIG’s release, they recently acquired Arvixe last October 31, 2014. Why is this bad news? Because when EIG buys hosts, they turn to crap. Look at what happened to HostGator. They used to be an excellent host, but things went out of control in 2012 when EIG acquired them. Now they’re nothing but a shitty host with frequent downtimes and horrible support.
A lot of people believe it’s a given that larger web hosting companies provide much better services than smaller providers. After all, those well-known companies have been around for a long time, and they have the budget for solid infrastructure and knowledgeable staff. Now this may be true for some hosts but unfortunately it isn’t always the case.
It’s Halloween and several web hosts have special offers this season! Check out these awesome web hosting deals!
Two days ago, HostGator announced that they were experiencing several issues on their servers, and that an emergency maintenance is required. More than 48 hours later, servers are still down and HostGator’s resellers are inevitably losing clients. Could this be HostGator’s Halloween treat for their clients?
First off, forgive me for the irregular blog posting activity. I’d post everyday or every other day but I just can’t find the time to do so. That aside, here’s big(?) news in the web hosting industry: the .host TLD is now available for public registration! For more information, check out the registry’s official website: get.host
Two weeks ago, Google announced that HTTPS is now a factor in determining search engine rankings. They say their reason for this is they want to help make the web safer for everyone.
I had all my web pages as HTTP before, so naturally, Google’s index had my whole site as HTTP! It was therefore necessary for me to permanently move all my HTTP pages to HTTPS so that Google, other search engines, and of course my visitors would be redirected to the secure version of the site.
I get this question a lot, so I’m now writing this post to use as a reference. Here’s how to redirect yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com.
